Miscellaneous
Finishing off darts and/or curving the waist when you are working with paper is easily done by folding the dart out and using a tracing wheel to draw the line. When opened up you can see the shape of the dart edge indented and you trace that line. When working with (thick) patternmaking paper it is not easy or advisable to fold out the dart. It is easy enough to earn how to finish off the dart without folding. You need to finish off the dart outline by determining the center point of the dart, drawing a line through the center point to be the same length as the dart legs, then finishing off the curve to that center line. There are four examples given in these pages. The pages under this menu relate to those finishing touches when creating blocks or patterns. A few step-by-step examples are given for:
- finishing off darts, and
- curving the waist
